Foden started Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa and grabbed his opportunity with both hands, registering an assist as well as being named man of the match in the 2-1 win.
Many City fans expected him to start against the Championship side, given he had played for the full 90 minutes in the two previous FA Cup games against Port Vale and Fulham.
However, Guardiola opted to leave the 19-year-old on the bench, starting a midfield trio of Rodri, David Silva and Bernardo Silva ahead of Riyad
