Man bailed after teenager shot dead during Whaley Bridge farm 'burglary'

A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was shot dead during a suspected burglary has been released on bail.Derbyshire Police was called to reports of a burglary at a farm on Eccles Road, in Whaley Bridge, at 1.20am on Wednesday.Officers found 19-year-old Marcus Smith with fatal gunshot wounds and another teen with a gunshot wound nearby on the same road.

The second man was rushed to hospital and later arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Cops said he has been bailed while investigations continue, Manchester Evening News reports.Police received reports of a burglary at the Eccles Road property on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 30, at around 3.30pm.

They say they are 'keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents are linked.'Three people arrested in connection with the alleged burglary have also now been bailed.A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped on the A6 in Chapel-en-le-Frith last Wednesday.Another man in his 30s was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and a man in his late teens was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender.Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the incident and anyone with any further information to come forward.Tributes have been paid to Mr Smith, who was a former pupil at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School and a footballer who had played for local club Chapel Town FC.Local pub, the Shoulder of Mutton, posted a public tribute on social media, which read: "Myself and all the staff at the Shoulder of Mutton,
