An elderly man died after he was struck by a motorbike when crossing the road in Oldham. The horrific crash happened on Ripponden Road at around 4pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
Emergency services, including police officers, fire crews and paramedics, rushed to the scene. In an appeal issued today (Sunday), Greater Manchester Police said enquiries have revealed that the elderly man - aged in his 70s - was crossing Ripponden Road when he was hit by the motorbike.
Sadly, he died on the scene. READ NEXT: Urgent appeal to find missing Kayden as police 'want to make sure he is safe' The rider of the bike - a man aged in his 20s - was also rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He remains there for treatment. A stretch of the road was cordoned off as investigations were carried out after the crash. Drivers were urged to avoid the area.
