A major new road due to be built as part of a multi-million pound development in Oldham will be named after a pioneering Suffragist.
Lydia Becker Way will provide access to the £100m regeneration scheme at Broadway Green. The new link road is being named after Becker to mark International Women's Day on March 8.
Oldham council bosses say work on the link road is expected to finish at the end of the year. They warn work on the scheme will cause 'unavoidable disruption'.
Crossley Bridge, an old railway bridge near San Rocco restaurant, will be knocked down as part of the project. A new signalised junction will be introduced on Broadway.
