A hospital has declared a major incident after the number of cricially-ill coronavirus patients swelled. Last night the Royal Stoke University Hospital had 38 Covid-19 patients on ventilators, prompting the alert level to be raised.
It means there are just seven ventilators left, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports, with 322 coronavirus patients currently in beds across the Royal Stoke and Stafford's County Hospital.
Now Royal Stoke bosses have reached an agreement with NHS trusts in Birmingham and Coventry and Warwickshire to transfer some of their critically-ill patients to hospitals in the West Midlands.
