German investigators have reportedly asked Portuguese police for all the evidence they have on Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner and a mystery saliva sample.

It is said that German authorities want to retest the saliva sample to see if it matches the paedophile suspected of abducting and murdering Madeleine.

The sample is thought to have been found on the missing girl's bed in her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, after the three-year-old vanished in May 2007, Sky News reported.

And a Lisbon newspaper says German investigators want their Portuguese counterparts to give them all their the evidence in the McCann case so Brueckner can be tried in his homeland.
