Police have officially reopened a cold case connected to the prime Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner. Carola Titze, 16, was found dead with her body mutilated in July 1996 in a resort town on the Belgian coast.
Now the public prosecutor's office in Bruges said it "is indeed reopening the file relating to this murder," a spokesman told AFP.
Carola's mutilated body was found in sand dunes in De Haan, West Flanders, where she was on holiday with her family. In the days before she was killed, she had been to a disco with a mystery German man, who has never been located.
