M60 traffic diversion route tonight as crash and fire near Oldham leave motorway closed

A diversion route is in place on the M60 following a crash and fire that have closed the motorway tonight (Friday, January 3).

The clockwise carriageway is shut to traffic near Junction 22 (near Hollinwood). The closure was first reported at around 8.30pm and the M.E.N is providing live updates here.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash has caught fire and three people have been taken into the care of North West Ambulance Service, according to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed clockwise between J22 near (Oldham) and J23 near (Ashton-Under-Lyne) due to a collision. "Police are on scene.
