Beloved TV host Lorraine Kelly has confessed she will be opting out of this evening's glitzy National Television Awards, citing a lack of confidence as her reason for giving the star-studded event a miss.The 64 year old, who is a regular on the invite list for the prestigious bash, shared her feelings of intimidation by the red carpet spectacle on her show today.
Despite her show Lorraine being a contender in the past for the Daytime category at the NTAs, she surprised viewers and guest Holly Matthews with her admission.
Holly, who was there to talk about her new book 'Find Your Confidence: The no-nonsense guide to self-belief', available this week, listened as Lorraine, who recently celebrated becoming a grandmother, explained: "It's the NTAs and normally I would be going to that and I would usually go.
I don't know what it is but I'm not feeling confident enough to go.That whole red carpet thing is sometimes really scary." Holly, 39, an actress known for her roles in Byker Grove and Casualty, empathised with Lorraine, acknowledging the intense scrutiny of such events: "Yes, you have all the lights on you.
