London Mayor Sadiq Khan has launched a last-ditch bid to stop the capital being hit with Tier 3 coronavirus curbs next week.
He announced extra “hands face space” signs for the capital’s high streets and shopping centres, more Covid marshals and increased police on the beat.
It is part of an attempt to prevent the city being lifted into the “very high alert” category when zones are reviewed on Wednesday.
In a meeting yesterday, the mayor and council group leaders also agreed more community testing, including 10 extra mobile testing units alongside 70 rapid test centres.
