Beyoncé endorses Kamala Harris at Houston rally: “I’m here as a mother”
Beyoncé made a speech at Vice President Kamala Harris’ Rally on Reproductive Rights last night (October 25).The rally took place in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, Texas and saw the singer come out in support of the Democratic candidate alongside her mother Tina Knowles and her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.Following the state’s near-complete ban on abortion access, as a result of the overturn of Roe v. Wade, the event focussed on abortion and reproductive rights ahead of the election on November 5.“H-Town,” Beyoncé began, “we are so happy to be standing on this stage as proud, country, Texas women.” She continued: “I’m not here as a celebrity; I’m not here as a politician; I’m here as a mother. A mother who cares—deeply—about the world my children and all of our children live in.
