McKinley Franklin author William B. Doeren, a former entertainment industry executive with AMC Entertainment, General Cinema Theatres, MGM and Kodak, died on March 8 of multiple dementias including FTD, Alzheimer’s and Vascular. He was 76. Doeren’s career in the film industry spanned over 40 years. His work as the COO of AMC, president and CEO of General Cinema and the managing director for MGM Theatres in Europe advanced the modern cinematic experience. Some of his most notable innovations include advanced ticket and credit card sales, AMC’s “Movie Watcher” and General Cinema’s “Credits” programs and the United States’ first dine-in theatre with General Cinema’s Yorktown “Premium Cinema” in 1998. While at Kodak, he also contributed to the digitization of the motion picture industry.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV EditorWhile A+E’s History Channel sets out to tell the story of Abraham Lincoln in a documentary over three nights  it will also tell the stories of formerly enslaved people who were also an important part of that era in a mini-series backed by one of its advertisers.Ancestry is sponsoring a three-part miniseries that will accompany the Lincoln work, which debuts February 20, the latest in A+E’s efforts to craft bespoke programming segments that burnish ad messages while at the same time keeping viewers tuned to the programing for which they originally came.“To me, this is not a commercial break, this is not a ‘brought to you by,’” says David DeSocio, executive vice president of ad sales marketing and partnerships at A+E Networks, in a recent interview. “It’s a continuation of the story, but on a very personal level.” Each of the content segments accompanying the “Lincoln” project will be introduced by Christy Coleman, executive director of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in Williamsburg, VA, and a contributor to the documentary.

As the release date for "Hamilton" on Disney+ draws closer, creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda says fans should prepare for one thing to change. Diehard fans of the musical will remember that there are three uses of the F-work throughout the musical, but that conflicts with the PG-13 rating given to the production by Disney+, which allows for only one use of the word before upgrading the rating to R, per the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
