Liverpool are now paying more on wages than Manchester United, although they’re still some way behind Manchester City in top spot.
The Reds spent a colossal £325million on salaries during the 2019/20 season – a figure which is believed to be heavily bonus related in a year which saw Jurgen Klopp’s men claim their first top-flight title since 1990.
The figure represents a 4.8% increase on their 2018/19 wage bill of £310million and a remarkable 23.6% rise on the 2017/18 total of £263million.Those numbers mean Liverpool now have the Premier League’s second-highest wage bill, putting them ahead of arch-rivals United.
