Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum were the brainchildren of the club’s powerful message regarding the death of George Floyd, according to reports.
High-profile figures from around the world of sport have been amongst those backing the Black Lives Matter campaign after the tragic death of Floyd at the hands of police brutality in Minnesota last week.
On Monday, Reds players took a knee in training around the centre circle in a moving display of support for African-American Floyd.
The players could be seen spaced two metres apart at Anfield just weeks ahead of the Premier League restart. According to The Athletic, the idea was put forward by Van Dijk and Wijnaldum.
