But if City lose to Arsenal next Wednesday, victory for Liverpool at Goodison Park will be sufficient to see off Pep Guardiola's challengers.
Liverpool are then due to visit the Etihad on July 2, although the venue has yet to be confirmed, and Guardiola is understood to be ready to honour his rivals.
