In a hard-fought encounter between two teams who were not at their best it was the Toffees who had the game's best opportunity late on, when first Alisson saved from Dominic Calvert-Lewin's flick and then Tom Davies struck the post from the rebound.
The result means the Reds will only be able to seal the title against Crystal Palace on Wednesday if Manchester City fail to beat Burnley on Monday, but speaking to Sky Sports after the game Klopp appeared satisfied with a point. "It was a real fight," he said. "Both teams showed they understand it's a derby even without a crowd.
