Liverpool are close to signing Aissa Mandi from Real Betis with his contract set to expire next year. The Reds have made signing a defender a priority after losing Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.
The Croatia international made the switch after six years at Anfield but it has left Jurgen Klopp in a lurch. At Liverpool, Klopp has already been told he will not have huge funds to play with in the transfer market.
It has already cost them after missing out on Timo Werner and currently struggling to put enough cash together for Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara.
But the Reds have completed successful cheap deals in the past and will be expected to do so again this summer.One star that has been strongly linked with Real Betis ace Mandi.
