The remainder of Tameside’s libraries along with its gallery and popular Portland Basin Museum are to reopen in a ‘Covid-safe’ way this month.At a meeting of the executive cabinet, bosses agreed to reopen four of the borough’s libraries which were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.The Portland Basin Museum in Ashton-under-Lyne, which had also shut its doors due to Covid-19 is due to reopen on Wednesday, October 14.To keep residents and staff safe, people wishing to visit the museum must pre-book for slots which last around an hour.A one-way system has been put in place around the exhibits, there are hand-sanitising stations, and extra cleaning measures have been introduced.Visitors must wear a face covering and observe social.
