Larkhall Harriers runners out in force for Christmas Novelty Handicap Race

Larkhall Harriers were out in force for the Harriers Christmas Novelty Handicap Race which was the second race of the 2023/24 Road Race Championships.The Christmas Novelty race is the oldest race in the club having been run as early as 1933, over a longer course which went behind the Radstone Hotel and crossed where the M74 motorway now stands.These days the course has been adapted and shortened and the seniors now compete over a shorter, hilly 2.25 mile course within Larkhall, although the race still begins and ends in the same place as it has for the last 90+ years.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Taking home the trophies In the Senior race was Dean Hill who was the fastest male with a scratch time of 15.45 and Julie Hill was the fastest female completing the course in 16.51.The winner of the Senior handicap Race was Willie Thompson with a handicap time of 14.14.

In the Junior race, the fastest overall boy was U15 Aaron Scott in a time of 5.38 and fastest girl was U13 Lacie McNulty in 6.19. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
