Perthshire is the “biggest single factor” in hospitality staff shortages, according to a councillor. Highland Perthshire has been particularly badly hit with some businesses having to temporarily close or reduce their service.Brexit and COVID have both played their part in the staff shortage.
But Highland Perthshire SNP member Mike Williamson reckons housing is the main issue. He told the Perthshire Advertiser he heard there were as many as 18 vacancies for chefs across Highland Perthshire at one point.
Cllr Williamson reckons because of Brexit there were “less staff to cover these jobs”.But he also said: “The biggest single factor is a lack of accommodation to house staff.
