Katherine, 40, takes on the role of dowdy teacher Sally Wright, who faces a desperate battle when all fingers point at her for the killing of one of her teenage pupils, who she is also alleged to have had an affair with.
The gripping storyline will unfold across Series 2 of the popular drama, which ITV announced would be returning for another run next year.
