Kate Garraway spoke to late husband Derek for final time over the phone: 'Things felt so positive'

Derek passed away on Wednesday 3 January from Covid complications - after he contracted the disease in 2020. In an interview with The Times, Kate explains Derek was receiving treatment in Mexico last year.
He was there at a brain cell clinic where his neural pathways showed “massive” improvement. Kate on her way to visit Derek when she received the devastating call.
Prior to that, Kate said she thought things were turning around, she told the publication: “We were in a very different place, health-wise, from the year before — and it felt like the happiest place.” Kate continued to say: “We had more of Derek back.
