A private Christian prep school run by music mogul Kanye West has been hit with a string of allegations that claim the school has been violating multiple health and safety rules.
According to a lawsuit filed at the LA County court, it has been alleged that cleaning services at the school are forbidden, doors are locked from the outside and students get fed just one sushi meal per day The claims were made by two teachers who used to work at the Donda Academy in California’s Simi Valley, as part of a wrongful termination suit, which alleges they were fired after they complained about potential dangers to students.
Cecilia Hailey and her daughter Chekarey Byers claimed that during the time they worked at the school, it was locked from the outside with the pupils having to remain indoors all day. They also claim that medications were stored haphazardly and there was no school nurse on site, with one example cited being the storage of a life saving epi-pen above a microwave. The lawsuit also claimed that teachers at the school were not required to have first-aid or mandated child-abuse reporter training, and state regulations regarding educational services and individualised learning plans were not being followed. The pair also alleged that janitorial services were forbidden because "West did not believe in cleaning products containing chemicals”.
Ron Zambrano, a lawyer representing the teachers said in a statement: " Kanye West is clearly as bad at running a school as he is at managing his own personal and professional life, enabling an unsafe and illegal school environment for students.
