But once again the Portuguese superstar finds the fate of his team resting largely on his shoulders. Juventus head into the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Lyon on Friday needing to overturn the 1-0 defeat they suffered in France back in February.
And while Ronaldo will be flanked by his Serie A-winning teammates, all eyes will be on him in the competition he has won no fewer than five times previously, as Juve's owners look to reap the dividends from their prized investment.
