Encountered at 13 years old by talent manager Scooter Braun after he had watched the boy's YouTube cover song videos, Bieber was signed to RBMG Records in 2008. Bieber's debut EP, My World, released in late 2009, made Bieber the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

"I don’t normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight," Bieber wrote on his own Twitter account Sunday night. "Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly," he continued.
