Encountered at 13 years old by talent manager Scooter Braun after he had watched the boy's YouTube cover song videos, Bieber was signed to RBMG Records in 2008. Bieber's debut EP, My World, released in late 2009, made Bieber the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

According to People, the singer filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit against the two women (who go by Danielle and Kadi), and his lawyers say the accusations against him are "factually impossible and disproven both by indisputable documentary evidence and the individuals’ own admissions."The complaint reads: "Danielle claimed she was sexually assaulted at the Four Seasons Hotel on March 9, 2014, however, Bieber did not stay at that hotel in March 2014 and there are multiple witnesses and documentary evidence to dispute Danielle's malicious lie." It also calls Kadi's accusation "likewise factually impossible, are contradicted by her own.
