John Terry has revealed that Jose Mourinho being sacked by Chelsea in 2007 left many of the Stamford Bridge squad “in tears”.

Mourinho had guided Chelsea to their first Premier League title in 2005 with the Blues retaining the crown the following season.

The FA Cup and League Cup were won in Mourinho’s third campaign in west London but a poor start to the 2007-08 season saw the Portuguese boss exit in September 2007.

And Terry, who was Mourinho’s captain, has revealed the impact it had on the squad with many Chelsea players wanting their manager to stay.
