Johnny Depp's bodyguard claims actor's face was scratched and swollen on honeymoon

Johnny Depp's personal bodyguard has told a US court that the Hollywood star had visible scratches and swelling on his face while he enjoyed his honeymoon.Malcolm Connolly who works for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 58, said he saw Depp go from being happy in love to "quiet" as Amber Heard became more "demanding".Johnny decided to file a libel case against Heard, 35, after she wrote an opinion piece in 2018, detailing her experiences with domestic abuse.The article in question, initially published by the Washington Post does not name Mr Depp but legal representatives for Heard say it is protected by freedom of speech.Lawyers for Depp say it "falsely implies" that she was a victim of abuse during their marriage.Taking to the stand, remotely from the UK, Malcolm told a Fairfax courtroom: "At the beginning [it was] all lovey-dovey, everything was great, honeymoon period was on, and yeah it was good."It was great to see Johnny happy again, Amber was lovely, charming - as she usually is - and good as gold."The protection officer who started working for Depp in 2006 went on to say that things "started to change" between Johnny and Amber."Amber started to change, Amber started getting a bit more feisty, demanding, I could see that Amber wanted to wear the pants in this relationship, that was pretty obvious," he explained.Malcolm went on to say that Amber could "get frosty at the drop of a hat" while Johnny started to get "quieter".While he never witnessed any violence between the once-married couple, he claims that he would often hear Amber "screaming" and they fought "more often than not".However, he claimed he started to notice scratches and and injuries, as well as swelling on Depp'[s face but never saw any marks on.
