On a scorching Sunday afternoon, there is little place for shade and shelter in Tenerife's Rural Parc de Teno. The remote landscape to the north-west of the Canary Island feels a long way from the resort towns of the south, which will be packed out with football fans for tonight's Euro 2024 final.

The spotlight has been on Teno for almost four weeks since since Jay Slater went missing. It is the last known location for the 19-year-old from Lancashire, who headed north after attending an NRG Festival rave on the notorious Veronicas strip, in Playa de las Americas.

He was invited back to the Casa Abuela Tina, an Airbnb on the fringe of Masca, a tiny village which sits inside the Rural Parc de Teno - more than 30km away from the Papagayo club where Jay had partied with friends.

He left the property on foot and headed further north, on the morning of June 17.
