Police in Tenerife have issued an update followed the discovery of a body in the search for 19-year-old Jay Slater. The teen from Lancashire had been missing for four weeks, from the morning of June 17.After attending NRG festival in Playa de las Americas, Jay travelled more than 30km north to a remote Airbnb in the village of Masca, before leaving on foot into the Rural Parc de Teno.
Spanish police say they worked throughout all four weeks to try and find the apprentice bricklayer, despite the high-profile search ending on June 30.
On Monday, July 15, Spanish police confirmed that a body had been discovered in the Masca area, at around 10am today. Although formal identification is yet to be completed, the Civil Guard believes it to be that of Jay.
In an update issued to the Manchester Evening News this evening, a Civil Guard spokesman said Jay's autopsy is still yet to be carried out.
