International Ayr Show kicks off on Friday as three day aircraft spectacular comes to down

Final preparations are being made for the 2024 International Ayr Show Festival of Flight which takes to the skies on Friday, September 6.

Ayr is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors as the spectacular show returns to the Low Green.The festival village will open from 4pm on Friday with the first displays from 6.30pm including the RAF Falcons parachute display team, the Royal Navy Black Cats display team and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featuring the Hurricane, Spitfire and Lancaster aircraft.Aerial displays are expected to last until 8.30pm on Friday before the festival village will reopen from midday on Saturday with the next lot of displays from 1.30pm.Saturday's schedule includes a Royal Navy Special Flypast, three aircraft from the Navy Wings collection and a Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130J Flypast before culminating with the RAF Typhoon Display Team.Within the festival village will be classic car displays, a military village, a Rafale aircraft simulator, abseiling wall and laser tag as well as a fun fair open until 9.30pm on Friday and 7pm on Saturday.

Tickets are still available for the hospitality village which includes a free buffet and soft drinks, event programme, tiered seating with a view of the coast and flight line, a park and ride space at Rozelle Estate and entertainment.

Priced at £75, tickets are available on South Ayrshire Council's website. Although the displays may be over on Sunday, a funday has been planned to ensure a whole weekend of entertainment is taking place.Events will be hosted at Ayr Central, Ayr Town Hall, the Cutty Sark Centre and the Grain Exchange with Ayr Film Society and Glasgow Science Centre among those getting involved on the day.South Ayrshire Council says it will
