Residents say there has been a spate of incidents including thefts, vandalism and other cases of anti-social behaviour in recent months.
Some told the Manchester Evening News they are scared to go out after dark. There have been numerous reports of police being pelted with missiles while trying to deal with gangs of youths.
Force bosses say they take reports of anti-social behaviour 'extremely seriously'. "As such, people in the Brinnington area may notice an increased police presence while we respond to these concerns over the coming weeks,"
