King Charles III has headed to Scotland alongside the Queen Consort, following his late mother Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral on 19 September. The new monarch, 73, and his wife, 74, flew from London's RAF Northolt to Aberdeen earlier this week to see out the remainder of the Royal period of mourning.

The couple will no doubt be returning to the Balmoral Estate but rather than stay in Balmoral Castle, which King Charles has now inherited, it's more than likely that they've headed to their private home, Birkhall.

Dad-of-two Charles has previously described Birkhall as "a unique haven of cosiness and character", and he and Camilla even spent some of their honeymoon at the peaceful abode.

The pair also isolated at Birkhall during the first Coronavirus lockdown in 2020. The property was purchased by Queen Victoria in 1849 for her son Edward VI, after being built in 1715.
