It's famously the night where celebrities, fashion editors and models can have the most fun with their outfits. Attendees regularly abide by the 'go big or go home' mantra, and outfits are daring, over-the-top and tonnes of fun.
Over the 71 years since the Gala began in 1948, we've seen many memorable looks. From Katy Perry's take on Catholicism and Rihanna in a dress that resembled an omelette, to Lauren Hutton dodging the theatrics in a jumper and Princess Diana in a Dior negligee - there's almost nothing we haven't seen at this event.
