A tourist was told he was 'lucky to be alive' after waking up in hospital following a crash in Manchester. Dean Gustafson was visiting the city for a day from Oxford on July 8 when he was hit on Oxford Street, close to St Peter's Square.
The 38-year-old was about to make his journey back down south. But the next thing he remembers is waking up in Salford Royal Hospital, where he would remain for four days.
Dean does not remember any of the incident or his journey to hospital, where he was told he had to be resuscitated to save his life.
Dean suffered extensive injuries, including bleeding on his brain and fractures, but no one has been able to shed any light on what happened to him.
