A major IT failure is has been affecting hospitals across Greater Manchester since early this morning, resulting in patients being 'sent home from waiting rooms'.
Sweeping IT problems are affecting telephone, intranet, and electronic patient record systems across England's biggest hospital trust, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
It has resulted in serious disruption for patients since around 7.30am this morning (August 3), the Manchester Evening News understands.
The trust operates Manchester Royal Infirmary, the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, Manchester's eye and dental hospitals, Altrincham Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and Withington Community Hospital.
