Police are continuing to hunt an attacker after a boy was knifed outside a Tesco store on New Year's Day. Emergency crews were called to the stabbing at the Tesco Express store on Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 6pm.

It's understood the victim, a 17-year-old boy, ran inside the shop for help following the attack. He was later rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries'.

The footpath outside of the shop was taped off for a number of hours on Wednesday night (January 1) as police were also seen conducting investigations inside the store.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the attack. Greater Manchester Police say investigations are ongoing along with efforts to trace the suspect responsible.
