Armed police descend on street after reports of 'disturbance' involving knife

Armed police descended on a street after receiving reports of a disturbance. Officers were called out to Barton Lane in Eccles, Salford, earlier this afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police said a man was believed to have been in possession of a knife. The force said that a 23-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

No injures have been reported. Images from the scene show a man being led away by armed officers. In a statement, the force said: "At 1:45pm today (Friday 10 January) we were called to reports of a disturbance at Barton Lane in Eccles. "It’s believed that a man was in possession of a knife, and armed officers were deployed to the scene.
