Suspect named after alleged 'disturbance with knife' in Whalley Range

A man has been charged with a string of offences in connection with an alleged 'disturbance' in Whalley Range. Officers were called to Burford Road, at the junction of Withington Road, at around 7.30pm on Thursday evening (January 23).

Burford Road was taped off following the incident. In a statement issued this morning (Saturday), Greater Manchester Police confirmed that he has now been charged in connection with the incident.

Jamal Walker-Bailey, 25, of Burford Road, has been charged with six counts of attempted Section 18 assault (grievous bodily harm).

He has also been charged with one count each of criminal damage, assault of an emergency worker, possession of cannabis and possession of a bladed article in public.
