Zendaya was just destined to become an Emmy-winning actress. After all, she uses a mononym as her stage name following the formula of icons like Madonna, Beyonce and Adele. This weekend, the 24-year-old actress made history by becoming the youngest person to win a Primetime Emmy for best lead actress in a drama for her performance in Euphoria.
After beginning as a child star on the Disney Channel, it would have been easy for Zendaya to stick to ‘safe’ child-friendly roles but Euphoria offered an opportunity too meaty for the ambitious actress to turn down.
