Liam managed to haul the young girl from her inflatable toy and on to his paddleboard but the challenging conditions meant that the pair couldn't get back to the safety of the shore.Liam and the nine-year-old remained on the paddleboard until they were rescued by Troon lifeboat.Today, Liam was awarded with a police bravery award after the coastguard credited his quick actions as "potentially lifesaving."At the time, Troon lifeboat gave an account of what transpired.They said: "While heading to the scene, the lifeboat crew were informed that a young girl had got into difficulty and that a paddle boarder had managed to get the girl onto their board but they were still getting blown.
