A health centre in Prestwich was temporarily closed over a fears a patient may have had coronavirus. It has now been confirmed that the person, understood to have presented with flu-like symptoms, tested negative for COVID-19.

Prestwich Health Centre shut on Saturday (March 7) for a deep clean. The Fairfax Road walk-in centre was locked, with a note on the door reading: "Closed due to unforeseen circumstances." The patient tested negative for the virus and centre opened the following morning on Sunday (March 8), a spokesman for Fairfax Group Practice, which runs the service, confirmed. “It was shut in the afternoon," they added.
