GPs have been told to prioritise elderly people from ethnic minorities and those with severe underlying health conditions for the coronavirus vaccine.

Practices who run short of the vaccine for patients over 80s have been told to consider ethnicity and co-morbidities (other illnesses).

Following the rollout of the first Pfizer/BioNTech jabs at hospital sites on Tuesday, GP-led sites are due to begin vaccinations next week.

Delivery of the initial vaccine supply will take place the day before vaccination starts and all sites going live next week will receive 975 vaccines in their initial delivery.
