Spain setting up register to log people who refuse to have coronavirus vaccine

Spanish citizens who refuse to be vaccinated against coronavirus will be added to a register which will be shared with other EU nations, the health minister has said.

The list would not be made accessible to the public or to employers, Salvador Illa said in a La Sexta television interview on Monday.

He said the way to defeat the virus was "to vaccinate all of us - the more the better". Spain has been one of the countries in Europe hit hardest by the virus.

It is currently rolling out the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine which was approved for EU member states last week. Mr Illa emphasised that vaccination would not be mandatory. "What will be done is a register, which will be shared with our European partners...
