Spain extends travel ban for Scots amid fears over mutant coronavirus strain

coronavirus. No one will be allowed to enter the country from Scotland via air or sea until 6pm on February 2 under the new restrictions.But there are exceptions to Spanish nationals and those who are a legal resident in Spain.

The ban was first introduced in December when scientists first detected a more-transmissible variant of the virus in the UK.

Tight restrictions were originally supposed to end on January 19, but it has now been extended by a further two weeks.This ban has come in addition to rules on providing proof of a negative Covid test, which should be taken up to 72 hours before departure.

All non-essential travel in and out of Scotland has been banned as part of the current stay at home lockdown. Scots can only travel abroad.
