The British-American socialite who allegedly lured underage girls to be abused by Jeffrey Epstein could be locked up in the same prison the billionaire paedophile hanged himself.
The six-count indictment against Ghislaine Maxwell, 58, in Manhattan federal court alleges she helped Epstein groom girls as young as 14 years old, going back as far as 1994.
She faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted. She was arrested in New Hampshire on Thursday and appeared via video link that afternoon at the Removal Hearing alongside her lawyer.
According to court filings, the US government fears France-born Maxwell is "an extreme flight risk" meaning she could be denied bail.
