Gareth Southgate has hit back at Jose Mourinho’s pleas for England to rest Harry Kane. Southgate tried to turn the tables on Mourinho and told him the whole nation is relying on Tottenham not to wreck Kane’s chances of being fit for the Euros next summer.
Spurs boss Mourinho made a public plea to limit Kane’s game time with England ahead of the Wembley treble header with Wales, Denmark and Belgium on top of Tottenham’s hectic fixture list of nine games in 22 days.
But England boss Southgate said: “All Jose needs to do is make sure in April and May that he has to look after Harry Kane for us because there are 55million people relying on that. "That obviously works both ways. “Jose was great, he was on good form.
