The United skipper was given his marching orders after two yellow cards in the opening 30 minutes, with England then going on to suffer defeat after a Christian Eriksen penalty just three minutes after his dismissal.
The sending off has increased the scrutiny upon Maguire, who has come under fire after his performance in the 6-1 defeat to Tottenham prior to the international break.
It has certainly been a slow start to the season for Maguire but he retains the support of his international boss, who spoke confidently after the game.
