The snaps taken in Montecito on Wednesday show the mum-of-two dressed in a low-key disguise made up of a beanie hat, sunglasses and a blue face mask.
Twitter users claim Meghan took the opportunity to orchestrate a C-list celebrity style photoshoot but others on social media were not having it.
One person wrote: "The entire world is shopping online but #MeghanMarkle decided to hit the shops in her Sunday best and paps knew the exact time and location of her solo, undercover excursion .. #gofigure."Another commented:.
