The Met Office has issued a snow and ice warning for northern parts of England and southern parts of Scotland from Monday. The UK government agency said a major change in weather was coming from this weekend as an early winter cold spell brings potential for disruption for some next week.
By Sunday, cold air from the Arctic arrives across northern Scotland - with a Yellow National Severe Weather Warning for snow and ice in place across that region and the Northern Isles from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.
A separate warning for snow and ice then comes into force on Monday morning, lasting into Tuesday morning, for much of northern England and southern Scotland.
Here, spells of rain, sleet and snow are likely during Monday and overnight into Tuesday morning.
